ACR Greater Delaware Valley Chapter Dinner and Program

Come join us for our March program featuring Max Rivers on Thursday evening, March 15, 2012.

The topic of the evening's program will be:

Marriage Mediation: A New Frontier In Mediation.

This talk introduces a new approach to mediating marital disputes called Teamwork Marriage Mediation. Teamwork Mediation is unique in WHEN the mediation occurs (preventatively); HOW the mediation is done (using Non-Violent Communication principles) and WHAT the goal is (teaching clients conflict resolution skills). For ten years, Max Rivers has been working almost exclusively with couples, helping them understand that the beneath all of their “conflicts” is one essential truth: marriage is about difference, and so knowing how to get the benefit of that difference is the key to success. In just 4-6 sessions, Teamwork Marriage Mediation can change the way a couple communicates so that instead of an inevitable divorce, the couple can work together as a cooperative, skillful team. He is writing a book about this process called, “The Surprising Purpose of Marriage.”

Who We Are

The Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR) is a professional organization that enhances the practice and public understanding of conflict resolution.

We are the Delaware Valley Chapter of the nation’s largest professional association for mediators, arbitrators, educators and other conflict resolution practitioners. ACR works in a wide range of settings throughout the United States and around the world.

At ACR, you will find colleagues with similar skills and concerns, whether you are a:

* government employee working with the shared neutrals program,
* school educator teaching peer mediation,
* custody mediator in the court system,
* environmental mediator dealing with regulatory disputes,
* arbitrator dealing with corporate non-performance,
* public policy facilitator working with interagency conflict, or
* divorce mediator working with families, or more!

Our multicultural and multidisciplinary organization offers a broad umbrella under which all forms of dispute resolution practice find a home.

Incorporated in August 2004, the Greater Delaware Valley Chapter of ACR offers networking and educational opportunities for everyone in the region with an interest or practice in conflict resolution, whether as a professional or volunteer.

The Chapter's primary role is to create a venue for sharing common concerns, advancing common interests, forging alliances and developing join strategies to promote and strengthen conflict resolution in our region.

The Chapter provides members with information, opportunities to improve skills, public policy advocacy and related services not available elsewhere.
